Dr. Trish Johnson

Dr. Trish Johnson is the proud owner of Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital of Charlotte. Her love of animals has existed since childhood which ultimately led to her decision to become a veterinarian. She grew up in Oswego, NY and has been working with animals and the veterinary profession since 1995. Dr. Johnson graduated from Oswego Sate with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

After graduation, her journey continued in a large mixed animal emergency practice in upstate NY for 2 years working with cats, dogs, cows, horses, goats, and pocket pets.  In April, 2005, she joined Help The Cats, a charitable organization that  provides spay & neuter services for feral cats based out of Perry, New York.  She brought her spay/neuter clinic experience to the table and a shared concern for the rural feral and stray cats lovingly called “the forgotten ones”. It was Dr. Johnson’s vision to see that these animals were given at least one chance in their lifetime at quality veterinary care.

Dr. Johnson enjoys the challenges involved in practicing medicine and finds joy in educating and interacting with her clients.  By helping clients understand different aspects of medicine, she feels that their animals lives will improve greatly. She enjoys internal medicine, surgery, client education, and has a passion for veterinary medicine and the animals with which she works.

On a personal note, Dr. Johnson and her husband Eric have four beautiful children (Aiden, Nathan, Ava, and Nora), as well as many four-legged furry children. The menagerie of fur-kids include:  three energetic dogs (Kaia, Kane, and Leupold), two sassy cats (Lilly and Mojo), a horse that truly believes he is a dog (Shiloh), and three busy chickens (Chika Laka, Red, and Penny) that keep them very busy. She enjoys running (5k's, 10k's, half marathons), hiking, playing with her fish tanks, reading, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Lauren Birch

Dr. Lauren Birch wanted to be a veterinarian since she was old enough to pronounce it.  Born in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, her love of animals shaped her entire life.  She realized her passion was also her gift at the age of 13 when she began volunteering at a local animal hospital.  As soon as she was old enough to work, she became a veterinary assistant and has not stopped learning about and loving animals to this very day.

Dr. Birch graduated from University of South Carolina in 2005, with a degree in Biology. She then attended Auburn University CVM where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Birch lives in Matthews with her husband Jason, and daughter, Piper. They also have  three fur-babies, two cats and two large dogs. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hiking with her black lab, reading fictional novels, and spending time in her kitchen.

Dr. Lauren Hendren

Dr. Lauren Hendren is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and is a proud member of the Big Blue Nation. As a child, she wanted to be either an actress or a veterinarian, having grown up on a farm with dogs, cats, horses, cows, and a flare for the dramatic. After completing her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, she was a musical theater actress for a few years in Chicago and New York. Although she loved performing, it wasn’t as fulfilling as she had hoped. Dr. Hendren never lost her love of animals and decided it would be more challenging and meaningful to become a veterinarian, a decision that she is extremely happy she made.  She received her veterinary degree from Auburn University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She recently moved to Charlotte with her husband, Jeff, and two strange (but adorable) little Chihuahuas, Yoshi and Pippin.

Dr. Hendren is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association. She is especially interested in abdominal ultrasonography, dermatology, and surgery of all kinds.

Testimonial

I have used Dr Johnson ever since she opened this office and my pets love her to death. She is very caring and does not rush you and always answers your questions in layman's terms. She loves her work along with her associates.
