Emergency Veterinary Care

Emergency Veterinarian in Charlotte, NC

We have a veterinarian and team members on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any emergency situation that may arise with your companion. Examples of emergencies include, but are not limited to, things such as seizures, being hit by a car, ingestion of a toxin, difficulty breathing, or bloat (GDV). Should you be unsure if your pet's condition is considered an emergency, please contact us and our trained staff can help determine the next best steps for you and your pet. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, please do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. Our team will triage all emergencies upon arrival to help ensure the best possible outcome. We serve Matthews, Harrisburg, Indian Trail, Concord, Mount Holly, Charlotte NC and surrounding areas. In the case of an emergency after regular business hours, please call 704-844-6440.

While we are not a critical care center, CCVH of Charlotte is prepared to handle a wide array of medical emergencies. Often times emergent conditions require on going care, in which case your pet may be triaged, stabilized, and then transferred to another facility for more appropriate care and treatment.

If you believe your pet is having a medical emergency you should call the hospital at 704-847-4796 and speak to one of our trained staff members who can help guide you forward. If there are no available appointments or the visit occurs after normal business hours, an emergency visit fee will be applied. In some instances, after discussing the case with you, one of our doctor’s may recommend you proceed directly to a critical care center instead of being seen at CCVH. This is done for serious conditions where time to treatment is critical, or when we are not equipped to deal with a specific emergency condition.

We advise that all emergencies go to Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency (C.A.R.E) which offers 24/7 emergency care and board-certified specialty care. They double as a specialty referral hospital and have an oncologist, neurologist, cardiologist, internist, and surgeon on staff. They also offer more advanced imaging such as rapid-scan CT imaging and high-field MRI.

They are located at 3726 Latrobe Drive in Charlotte. C.A.R.E can be reached at 704-457-2300 should an emergency arise after hours.
