Pet Surgeries in Charlotte

At CCVH of Charlotte we are prepared for a wide variety of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters, to more complicated surgeries like abdominal exploratory surgery and foreign body removal.

Safety is our number one priority and we go to extra lengths to ensure a successful surgical outcome. Your companion will have a dedicated trained team member monitoring them at all times before, during, and after their procedure. Your pet's assigned caregiver will use modern anesthetic monitoring equipment which continuously measures blood oxygen levels, heart rate and rhythm (EKG), blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respiration rate. In addition, pre-surgical lab work and EKG are required for all surgical patients and can be done a few days prior to the procedure to identify any underlying issues that may negatively affect them before general anesthesia.

All of our surgical patients undergoing anesthesia receive an intravenous catheter to allow for easy venous access for medications. Anesthetized patients also receive intravenous fluids throughout the procedure to help maintain adequate blood pressure and appropriate levels of hydration.

When your pet is scheduled for surgery or anesthesia, it is important to remember to withhold food and water after 10 pm the night before their procedure. Most patient’s undergoing surgery will stay with us for the day only, dropping off in the early morning and going home in the evening.  However, more extensive and complicated procedures may require overnight monitoring at C.A.R.E, a 24-hour critical care facility. In some cases, our patients will require the services of a board certified surgeon and referral to a specialty hospital. We will always keep your pet's best interests in mind and be sure that they get the care that they need and deserve!

I have used Dr Johnson ever since she opened this office and my pets love her to death. She is very caring and does not rush you and always answers your questions in layman's terms. She loves her work along with her associates.
